Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Immediate Care

1. As instructed by artist, leave on the transparent /second skin bandage up to 7 days, as long as no water, moisture or dirt is trapped underneath and isn't providing any irritation. It is perfectly normal to have some fluid build up under the bandage.

2. Avoid any extra physical activity, sun exposure, picking and scratching. For best results, avoid moisture and heat. Skin will be very sensitive to heat (heat rash) and sweat when the second skin is in use.

3. Remove the bandage in a warm shower by gently pulling the bandage back and away, along the skin as opposed to up and away. It is normal for some adhesive residue to be left behind from the bandage on the skin. You can remove it by gently rubbing the adhesive with a small bit of baby oil (this could take a few attempts).

4. Wash the area with unscented soap and warm water. DO NOT USE A WASHCLOTH - washcloths may harbor bacteria that can cause a skin infection.

5. Pat or dab (do not rub) the tattoo with paper towel and allow to air dry for at least 10 minutes.

6. Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer or tattoo cream, a few times a day to prevent the tattoo area from drying out. DO NOT OVER LOTION - this can trap moisture and not allow the tattoo to breath naturally for proper healing.

7. It is ideal to use clean bed sheets and fresh clothing to avoid any potential bacteria which may linger on fabric.

DAILY CARE

• Always wash your hands with liquid soap and warm water prior to touching your tattoo.

• Always keep the tattoo free from grease, chemicals, general dirt, biohazards (such as uncooked meats). If the tattoo becomes soiled, wash immediately with soap and warm water and air dry, or pat dry with paper towel.

• Do Not expose the tattoo to sunlight for at least 4 weeks.

• Do Not use tanning beds for at least 4 weeks.

• Do Not soak tattoo in water (avoid bathing for 2 weeks; avoid public swimming pools and hot tubs for 4 weeks).

• Do Not allow shampoo or rinse/conditioner to come into contact with your tattoo.

• Profuse sweating has the same effect on new tattoos as soaking in water. If you work out (especially cardiovascular or aerobic), take extra caution to keep your tattoo dry.

• Wear loose clothing that can allow your healing tattoo to breathe.

• Do Not pick or scratch new tattoos

• After 4 weeks, apply sunscreen to the tattoo if it is to be expose to the sun.

• Do Not let pets or animals touch the tattoo until it is fully healed.
